Vendor's Day celebrated across India
Thursday, January 28th 2010

NASVI and its affiliates organize vendor’s day on 20th January every year to foster solidarity among street vendors and remind Policy makers& Administrators to bring in and implement policies benefiting street vendors. On 20 January 2010, In    Bihar, vendors of Patna,Hajipur, Samastipur, Muzafferpur celebrated the vendor’ day.In Delhi, the vendors held protest a demonstration against the harassments of Police to remark vendor’s day. In Rajasthan, Vendors of Jaipur celebrated vendor’s day and Vendors of Jodhpur held a protest demonstration against the recent eviction drive to remark vendor’s day. In Andhra Pradesh, vendors from Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam observed vendors day   In Karnataka,vendors from Hubli-Dharwad, Raichur and Koppal  celebrated vendor’s day.  In Tamil Nadu, the vendors from Chennai, Madurai, Tiruchy, Salem, Erode, Tuticorin, Tiruppur and Vellore held protest demonstrations to implement the national policy to remark vendor’s day and submitted memorandum to the administrators. In Orissa, the vendors from Cuttack, Bhadrak, and Sundargarh celebrated vendor’s day. In Madhya Pradesh,the vendors of Gwalior celebrated vendors day.In Jarkhand, the vendors from Ranchi and Bokaro celebrated vendor’s day. In Uttar Pradesh, vendors from Lucknow, Barely, Ittawah, Gulawathi, Varanasi celebrated vendor’ day. In west Bengal, vendors from Midnapore, Kolkatta celebrated vendor’s day.
